Passage Rock Wines established in 1993 is based on Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf in the warm north of New Zealand. Free to assess the merits of each region unrestricted by appellation or fear. We specialize in producing Waiheke wines of distinction, recognizing the strengths of each site and region to produce the best wine for the season the site and the most appropriate grape variety.

Our Syrah is recognized as one of the New Zealands finest, and has an incredible 6 gold medals from just three years, it has been ranked in New Zealands top 5 Syrahs for the last three years by Cuisine Magazine and has a huge following for those lucky enough to be able to get some.* join our loyalty club.

Our Viognier is made to retain the beautiful aromatics of the variety and with structure to make it last 4 to 5 years it has usually sold out by February each year.

Our Chardonnays are very popular with the local market and are made with retention of fruit and with good use of Malolactic fermentation and oak.

Our Red Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blends (Sisters, Reserve Merlot, and Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon) are made in full bodied styles and are very popular they generally gain 4 to 5 stars in magazine ratings and have had silver medals for the last few years, they are acclaimed as offering excellent representation of Waiheke wine and have been described as excellent and some of the best value on the market.

In 2007 we made our first Waiheke grown Pinot Gris, already it has proven to  be a ripe fleshy style with good aromatics and palate structure.
