& long lasting, an exciting new variety from the northern part of the Rhone Valley
in France, very well suited to our site on Waiheke Island. Very popular!

VIOGNIER 2006

 

Grape Variety: Viognier

Origin of fruit: Grown at Passage Rock vineyard Waiheke Island in the most sheltered part of our vineyard,

Winemaking: Fruit flavours are preserved through cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and 10 % is fermented in aged oak barrels to enhance texture and mouthfeel.

Typical flavours: Floral & fruity, with notes of pear and guava, palate is rich and warm with a soft finish.

Nature of the wine: Unique, elegant and soft white. It is worth cellaring as it develops lovely apricot and almond characters. Some breathing opens it up nicely

Food Match: Best with seafood, pasta, chicken or on its own

Alcohol content: 13.5%

Cellaring Potential: Up to 5 years
